The Volar Buttress Locking Plate is an orthopedic fixation plate for the volar, or palm-side, surface of the distal radius. It comes in Left and Right versions, with 2, 3, 4 or 5 shaft holes. As a result, buyers can match the configuration to their own requirements.
How a Volar Buttress Locking Plate Is Designed
A volar plate rests on the palm side of the distal radius. Screws pass through the holes in the plate and into the bone. A buttress design is intended to support a bone fragment against displacement. A locking design, in turn, lets the screws lock into the plate itself. A volar buttress locking plate therefore combines both ideas in a single implant.
Distal radius plates are also usually contoured to follow the shape of the wrist. For this reason, they are made as separate Left and Right versions. Each version is intended for one side of the body.
Left and Right Plate Configurations
The distal radius differs between the left and right arm. Because of this, we offer both sides. Please confirm the side you need when you order.
Shaft-Hole Options
The shaft is the long section of the plate that extends along the radius. This plate has 2, 3, 4 or 5 holes in the shaft. A shorter shaft has fewer holes, while a longer shaft has more. Healthcare professionals decide which option suits the clinical situation.
Stainless Steel and Titanium Material Options
You can choose between two materials. Premium German Stainless Steel is a widely used material in orthopedic implants. Titanium is also widely used and has a lower density than steel. Both materials appear on the specification list below, and you can select either one for any side and hole count.
Please note that “German” describes the stainless-steel material specification. It does not describe the country of manufacture. In addition, please request the exact material grade and standard before ordering. This lets your team check the grade against your own requirements.
