Ombredanne Mallet — German Stainless Steel Orthopedic Bone Mallet
The Ombredanne Mallet is a classic orthopedic instrument. Surgeons use it for controlled, repeated impact on osteotomes, bone chisels, and gouges during osteotomy and bone-shaping procedures. Its solid, cylindrical head has two impacting faces. This gives the surgeon a reliable striking surface from either end, without needing to reposition the tool mid-procedure.
Precision Impact Head
Sami’s Instruments machines the head from German stainless steel for consistent density and balance. Each strike transfers force predictably. This matters during osteotomy and bone grafting, where uneven impact can compromise cutting accuracy or damage the edge of an osteotome.
Solid, Secure Grip
The handle uses the same German stainless steel as the head. This gives the mallet a solid, one-piece feel, with no weaker joints or lighter-weight inserts. The solid stainless construction delivers a firm, non-slip grip. It reduces fatigue during longer procedures and lowers the risk of slippage during forceful, repeated taps.
Reusable, Sterilizable Construction
The mallet withstands repeated autoclave sterilization cycles without degradation. It follows standard reprocessing protocols for reusable OR instruments, so surgical teams can rely on it across many procedures.
Versatile Surgical Application
Orthopedic surgeons use the Ombredanne Mallet most often for osteotomy work. Plastic and craniofacial surgeons also use it for bone contouring. ENT and maxillofacial teams sometimes use it too, whenever a procedure calls for controlled impact on a chisel or osteotome.
Dimensions
The Ombredanne Mallet measures 9½” (24cm) in overall length. Its head diameter measures 40mm. The instrument weighs approximately 700g.
Sami’s Instruments manufactures the Ombredanne Mallet fully in German stainless steel. Our ISO 13485 and CE certifications back every instrument, so each one meets the material consistency and quality control standards that modern operating rooms expect.
